Where Can I Play?
17 Rinks to choose from
Although there are many rinks around Dane County, if you choose to register and play youth hockey, you must do so with your local hockey association. WAHA, the governing body of youth hockey in Wisconsin, sets boundaries for all member associations. WAHA rules state that no player may play for an association other than the association certified by WAHA to serve the area in which the player permanently resides.
Dane County has several other youth hockey associations that border each other in the greater Madison area. The boundaries for the associations certified by WAHA generally follow the boundaries of the public school districts. Players who reside in the Madison Memorial and Madison West high school districts are required to play for the West Madison Polar Caps. Players who reside in bordering school districts are required to play for their local youth hockey associations. For players living in the Verona school district, it is the Verona Wildcats Youth Hockey Association. For players living in the Middleton school district, it is the Middleton Youth Hockey Association. For players living in the Madison La Follette and Madison East High school districts as well as players living in the Monona Grove school district, it is the Patriots Youth Hockey Association. There are a few exceptions to this rule and player transfers between associations can be requested.
